Prayer and Meditation
Prayer
The ancient technology of prayer is a way to communicate with a your god. Prayer is a ritual across diverse cultures and belief systems. Prayer serves as a profound testament to human spirituality and a connection with the divine. It represents the complex and connected technology of the soul, transcending everyday thought and tangible tools to delve into the realms of faith, contemplation, and profound introspection. Through the ages, prayer has been a foundational element of human existence, offering solace, guidance, and a means of communing with the sacred.
At its core, prayer embodies the essence of communication, not just with a higher power, but also with your soul’s essence. It is a conduit through which individuals express their deepest hopes, fears, gratitude, and aspirations. The art of prayer extends beyond presence and thought, resonating with the innate spiritual connection ingrained within humanity.
Technology, in its modern sense, typically refers to the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes. However, the term itself stems from the Greek word "techne," which embodies craftsmanship and artistry—attributes also found in prayer. The act of praying is an art, honed through practice and personal interpretation, just as an artisan refines their craft through dedication and mindfulness.
Prayer, as an ancient technology, operates beyond the realms of present time and space. It engages the faculties of the heart and mind, serving as an instrument to channel emotions, thoughts, and intentions toward a higher plane of existence or consciousness. Prayer taps into the metaphysical and emotional realm, fostering a connection that is deeply personal and often beyond the scope of tangible comprehension.
Prayer manifests in various forms—a supplication for intervention, a contemplative meditation, an expression of gratitude, or an avenue for seeking guidance and strength. The diversity in its manifestations emphasizes its adaptive nature, evolving to the changing needs and beliefs of individuals across centuries. Prayer is always answered.
Meditation
Meditation is awakening the truth of our nature. By meditating we make an appointment to meet with our inner being, our highest self connecting to our authentic, radiant soul. Meditation opens the door to the center of our being, deep inside us dwells a soft silent presence – the true self. To acknowledge this is to pay reverence to the divine self – the stillness, peace and tranquility of limitless existence, infinite knowledge and unbounded bliss.
Meditation is a time to witness and explore your being. It is a practice for resting and rejuvenating the mind, watching the thoughts without judgement and reaching a state of consciousness that is different from the normal waking state. It is the means for examining, exploring and befriending all the levels of ourselves and experiencing the center of consciousness within. Meditation is a way of getting to know your soul.
During meditation thoughts come and go, be at peace, do not stop the thoughts or judge, just observe and witness them. “This body we witness therefore this body we are not. This mind we witness therefore this mind we are not. We are the witness alone, the observer of this experience.” - Thich Nhat Hanh.
In meditation, the mind is relaxed, and inwardly focused. When you meditate, you are fully awake and alert, but your mind is not focused on the external world or on the events taking place around you. Meditation welcomes an inner stillness to relax the mind. When the mind is relaxed meditation deepens and intuition heightens. The goal of meditation is to go beyond the mind and experience our essential nature—which is peace, happiness, and bliss. Ananda.
