Meditate 22 Day 1

DAY 1 November 9, 2019
Atha : Readiness and Commitment

“Until one is committed, there is a hesitancy, the chance to draw back. The moment one definitely commits oneself the Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would otherwise never have occurred. Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.“ – Johann Wolfgang VonGoethe

Welcome to day 1 of Meditate 22 days of self discovery. Atha, beginning the study of who we are, where we are and how we can make changes to our inner and outer self. As we begin our journey be gentle and kind with yourself. If you feel overwhelmed one day just take 10 slow, deep breaths. If you are feeling any sort of way I am open to talking, moving, laughing, breathing and holding space whenever you need. You can email me, call me, text me 518.728.2783 or slide me a DM. I promise to listen without judgement and beam love!

Below are some suggestions for you to use to create a ritual for yourself, a sadhana – spiritual practice. Take what you need, what feels good to you and apply them to your practice. Each day will be a few more. Maybe jot them down in your journal. My intention is that by the end of our 22 days we each have our own unique sadhana that we cherish. This is your practice, it should feel amazing (maybe not at first but as you settle into a ritual it will fuel your soul I promise) Today set aside 3-5 minutes for your meditation following your meditation if you wish set a timer for 5-10 minutes to journal.

Today’s Suggestions for Ritual :

  • Begin each meditation by chanting “Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo” 3x aloud. If you are not comfortable with that I get it! You can recite it the mantra in your mind although I lovingly encourage you to chant it aloud because of the power behind it. Never worry if you are saying the Sanskrit wrong its all ok and the universe is sending you so much love no matter how you say it. Trust me sometimes I really butcher (for lack of a better work) these mantras but I keep trying until I get it. Like all things they take time be gentle and kind to yourself.
  • Clear your altar and space with Palo Santo or an essential oil spray
  • Breathe : { Pranayama see below }

Set aside 5-10 minutes to journal whatever comes to your mind. (these are just suggestions, sometimes my mind is full of new ideas and concepts after meditation, sometimes I’m just at ease and journal about that, other times I look for inspiration to write)

  • Describe peace. Breathe it in allow it to permeate your cells.

Sama Vritti -equal ratio breathing.  Inhale for 4 counts exhale for 4 counts increasing the count as much as feels comfortable. Feel your breath circulate through your body send peace, love and gratitude to each piece of your being.
